Got back to where I found my 2 reales cob about three weeks ago. Wasnt finding much in that immediate area other than the early lead/pewter button. So I spread out and wasnt finding much but scrap lead/pewter pieces until I got a beautiful signal that turned out to be a nearly perfectly preserved complete circa 1690-1720 lead/pewter buckle
Happy with that, I headed back to the area where the cob came from in preparation to go home. I got a very faint high tone practically right on top of where the previous cob came from. Out popped a thick 4.5 gram cut cob from Mexico. Rescanned the hole and got an even sweeter tone. A 9.5 gram 1656? Potosi 4 Reales cob
The 4 appears to have been counterstamped too so any info on that appreciated too.
