thanks Steve there are etchings all over the whole piece can't tell what they are until i get the dirt offSome really nice finds there, but the neck stock buckle is just killer. The looks to be something under the XXXV. Can you make out what it is?
Your stock buckle is an outstanding find! I found a very decorative one years ago, just never seem many found and to be found with design is special, with military design even better. Your 1798 looks like a very common variety Wide Date, 9 8 Apart and a lump on the right side of O in ON. Those details plus the die break at STATES makes it a Breen 22 Sheldon 161 Rarity 1. u nailed it thanks Don!!! Would love to see a pic of your stock buckle, ive only seen 1 other dug example

Incredible neck stock buckle Coop... I have found the frame of a neck stock buckle, but not this style.

The abreviation "Reg" just to right of unit number with what looks like a shield or crest below. I saw another etched piece in Troiani's book and I think a digger called Colonial Dude found a Kings Eighth regt. neck stock.So glad u can see it!!!! xxxv reg maybe when it's cleaned up it will make it up top.
