Hello! Attached is our coolest find to date--a 1775 Massachusetts Militia Uniform Button #5. According to an expert, this particular button was used for the first uniforms made right before the official war started, and the uniforms changed the very next year, so the button is pretty rare. Enjoy!

Lisa and John

Update: The photo with the pink background is after our recent Elmer's Glue treatment. Also including a photo of the shank!

Great button. Congrats! Assuming it is pewter....keep it from drying out. Pewter will flake.

Thanks all, for your replies!

I absolutely love that button Lisa and the killer history that goes along with it

Thanks, Abe! We recently protected it with the 50-50 Elmer's glue solution. Came out nice, thanks to the advice of our friends at TNet! Take care, L&J

It's a real beauty and very rare. Might want to brush a thinned down Elmer's white glue mixed with water to hold the pewter together.

I don't care about buttons.
UNLESS THEY ARE MASSACHUSETTS BUTTONS !!! :headbang:

Thanks, Smokey! Yup, we did the 50-50 Elmer's glue treatment a few weeks ago. Nice results! -L&J

Ok kids....after some consideration
I formally nominate this button....as your First Banner!

Yay!! We've been dreaming of having a Banner!! Thanks, Dave! I'll edit our post to add new pics. ;-). -Lisa & John

Hopefully after the dust settles from the election, members will get back to checking out your finds....

We'll see, Dave. But we're glad you like it! -L&J

You should never handle it over a hard surface. Any drop and that elmers glue might no longer matter. And never give it to anyone to hold because half the time they will drop it! :censored:

IP--sound advice from you (as usual)! Thanks, -L&J
