I do know that in my book "100 Tons of Gold" that one of the gold bars pictured (that was hidden or sold early on) had "LA RUE" stamped on it! Also, if I am not mistaken, the treasure probably came from another find. Doc Noss "found" that stash and probably re-stashed it, or it was already re-stashed in Victorio Peak.

4.He had a Chart, a copper scroll actually, that gave
navagation to the Mountains

5. He did not so much mine gold
as he did recover already smelted bars.
The Main Treasure storage for his find, was right out in front of
Soledad peak, behind the Old Beasley Trading post.
This was opened and stolen by Military inteligence
in 1992 or 1993.

6. La Rue was MURDERED by Local Mexicans from the Mesillia Valley
Not by Spanish Soldiers.
The local Mexicans who murdered him
Made up the spanish soldier story later to cover their crime of Murder.

1812 is when the Mexican Revolution began
La Rue's Murder took place in 1813

The Spanish had their hands full and would not spare a detachment
to seek a so called renegade Priest, which La Rue was not.

7. The Bars pictured in 100 tons of gold
with La Rue engraved on them
were NOT La Rue Bars
The engraving was done with a large soldering Iron
You can tell that by inspecting them
Noss did that to add validity to his claim
also, to cover up the REAL source of the Bars,

There were many La Rue's
These Padres were named for being found living in the street as children

They were taken to monasterys and raised in them

This treasure ended up here in the Organ Mountains of New Mexico

HI ROGER, since I have been in this business since 1953, and since I have found Tayopa, among other things, after no-one else had been able to do so for 400 years, and also made a living at this, I presume that this qualifies me to a limited extent under your criteria, no?

As for irons and heat, I was an assayer for a bit in my checkered career, and yes, I have seen branding irons being used on cattle, they should be white hot for min discomfort to the cattle..

I agree that most Au, Ag bars were very impure in the early days - remeinds me of dekker's and sossi's characters, not pure and snow white like ours.

Impressed ?? I have no idea what you are referring to, I am not trying to impress anyone?? Just clarifying a few things.

namecalling and vituperation are fun endeavors-for four year olds-but this site is a place to SHARE ideas. Truthfully, I enjoy Cappy, Till, and Rog and their posts, but we are getting away from the real subject.
Does anyone have any ideas about the mine? If LaRue and his men could find it, why can't a group of us re-find it? We have many of the points, can't we start at Dripping Springs and prospect the mountain using modern equipment?

The location of the church, the 18 mines and the correct distances and directions from the church, the arroyo Caudeloso, direction of flow, exit and the barranca de Paramo as well as the barranca de Tayopa, the Apache hiding cave in the Tayopa barranca, the Jesuit headquarters and grave yard, the precise directions to enter the Tayopa barranca, the old pole road on the cliff used to enter Tayopa with animals, the location of an external deposit and the precise dierections to re-enter the Tayopa barranca and on.

p.s. A Jesuit priest fell off of a cliff while investigating my Tayopa. the hill is still called EL Cero del Cura" -The hill of the priest. What was he doing there in the late 1800's when there was nothing up there , not even an Indian ranch?
