Park Basketball Tear Out

Live right across from a local park (About a 100' away) which I've been going over very slowly with my detector for about the last month or so in the afternoons. Seems they will be doing a basketball court tear out (About 50' x 100' in size) and replace the concrete here shortly (Probably this week) Have a open ended permission for the entire park...as I was showing the local folks that are responsible for the park some of the nasty/rusty/mangled metal and stuff that I was finding in the park. To make a long story short...park has been there for ~50-60 years...so no telling what might be under the concrete area being torn out and replaced. Lady that locks up the park at night has already talked with the guy doing the work...letting him know that I'll be in there right after he rips up the old concrete...and that it's OK for me to be in there. Pretty stoked right now...

They even gave me a key so I can get in the park after hours if I want to...

Woo Hoo...Tear out in the park starts Monday 8:00 am...got a new set of batteries in the metal detector & pinpointer...chomping at the bit and ready to go... Yeah Baby...

Not much to report on the "Basketball Court" tear out so far...took a picture to show what kind of conditions I'm dealing with...(Only about half done on the tear out so far) Did however find a 1970 S penny on the outskirts of the tear out...half way decent condition too...

Guess I'll have to wait and see what's under the other side when they tear it out...

Looks like this basketball court tear out might drag on for a while... EPA getting involved with helping to remove the soil that was under the concrete that has been ripped up...so the other side of the court might not happen for a little while...

Good news is...I have full run of the park if I want to detect other signals I have documented from previous visits... as I have a key...

Looks like this basketball court tear out has been more or less A BUST so far...Did find a couple of modern penny's tho...one on the very edge of where they were ripping up the concrete...and the other one was in the middle right where a big crack was...so thinking it must have fallen through the crack...so-to-speak... (Pun intended)

Still have the other side of the court to rip up here in a couple of weeks...so will see if anything might be under it after they rip it up...

Looks like they have started back up on the basketball court tear out again...probably have the rest of the concrete ripped up by Thursday-Friday sometime during the day... Might find something...Then again might not find anything...
