Hi everyone. It's been a few years since I've posted on here. Glad to see everyone is still finding shiny stuff. Haven't done much detecting in the last 3 years. Decided I needed to make the time. I have been hunting parkway strips in the small towns around me. Most of the houses range from 1880's up to the 40's. My silver finds have gone up about 1000% since I started doing them. The parks and schools around here are all hunted to death but the parkway strips are pretty much virgin territory. Dropped my daughter at ballet and drove to a street full of 1930's homes. hunted in front of a small house for 15 min. and found some clad and a 1963 Dime. Nothing too exciting but
glad to be back out there.

Robert

Hey last I checked 63 is silver . Better than a day without :coffee2: Rob Welcome back.

Very interesting finds Captain! I've often thought about doing this too.
But it makes me nervous hunting parkway strips without the property
owners permission. :-\ Everyone seems to be so protective of their lawns these days. :dontknow:

I always get permission Antiquarian. Even though they are city property the home owners are responsible for the upkeep. But I haven't had problems getting permission. Only had one no so far. It was a Victorian too. There was a gigantic Silver Maple that was pushing up the side walk with its roots to the point it was unusable, which means the strip had not been touched for maintenance and the dirt and grass were humped up 4 inches above the curb, another good sign of age. The owner in her 40's looked at me suspiciously and said no. "Do You do this often" with eyes crinkled. Yes ma'am, I said, "it's my hobby". "and people let you" she said, more suspiciously. Everyone except you, I said. I thanked her for her time and went next door and got permission there.

The best part of hunting the strips is they don't have a lot of trash. Sometimes every signal is a coin. Try it, you'll like it.
