I've just started water hunting the local lake in the last couple of weeks and have found some junk rings and some old parts to watches and machines. Yesterday I found this brass object that looks like a piece to a sword. Anyone know anything about it? Yeap - Nice find!

Nice piece of history, time to go back in.

Looks like it is off a fancy sword, maybe an officers. Very nice find. Will look great on display. Congrats

REALLY NICE FIND YOU HAVE THERE.

Nice find !!

The rest might be there. Keep hunting that lake. Might have to do some diving.

Most likely the pommel cap off of a Model 1850 Foot Officers sword. Google it.
Nice Civil War era find!

Thank you for your help. We don't find many Civil War era items in southern Minnesota.

Excellent find!!! Great condition as well! Any close-ups of the engravings?
