All the history that I have read was the Spanish side of their viewpoint. The Semiole Indians were a group of people from many different tribes that the Cherokees ran out of their terrorises. These different tribes came to together to form a new tribe that became known as the Seminole.
The Seminole Indians are the ONLY tribe that NEVER signed a Peace Treaty with the U.S. NOT even today 2006.
The U.S. Army was not able to defeat the Seminoles and move them to a Reservation so they made the Everglades a Reservation.
I believe that this New Nation/tribe absorbed all the other tribes living in South Florida.
When the Seminoles became a Single Nations just think of the Treasure they also absorbed. The other tribes had been gethering this treasure for a few hundred years and had plenty to spread around. The Seminoles were the most feared Indian Natation in the U.S.
There is a place in the St. Johns River were I have recovered pottery sherds with Aztec and Myan symbols. The St. Johns River was a SUPERHIGHWAY of trade between the different Indian Tribes.
When the Gator breading season is over I plan to do some serious MDing at this location and eveything within a mile redius.

I enjoyed the history lesson from a White mans point of view. Now if you get the chance visit the Seminoles and hear their side of the story. There are always 2 sides to everything.
That was then and now is now.
I have located over 125 Indians mounds and have NEVER dug a single one-not that I have not been temped but that is as far as it has gone. It stands to reason that there would not be any precious metals buried there. I have watched as many experts dug and sifted through mound after mound and NEVER did find a single gold coin or even a silver coin and very very little cast iron that was not broken and useless. Mounds are not the place to look but the villages can be a treasure trove. Watch your back.

Doc, I an not trying to confront you concerning the history of the native American Indians regardless of their tribes names. I have no links to refer anyone to. All I can go by is what I was told by the Seminoles themselves.
Did you know that there was a sign posted in the Glades that warned people to stay out. This was in 1950 and it was said that no white have ever traveled all the way across the Glades and lived to talk about it.

Let me ask why the Seminoles figure in interaction with the Seminoles? I thought their gold came mostly from the Cherokees. Just curious.

The only gold the Seminoles ever had came from the Hard Rock Casino. The were the poorest of Indians you would ever see before Billy brought in gambling. If they knew where the ancient Indians buried gold was, they would have dug it up. My opinion.

I bought my chemicals 30 yrs ago at Biscayne Chemical in Miami. Mine may be old. I think the best way would be to google "silver test kit" and see what comes up. They used to sell test solution in small containers. All pawn shops use test kits. They may sell one. I e-mail you when I get more time and keep in touch.

I think I ran over that sign. I had to push it under my tires for traction. Yea, they can be and are very protective of their lands. I used to work on the reservation on and off over the years. At least now we are allowed to talk to the women, a little.
