Yesterday me and two friends decided to hit a couple of beaches in the am hours. After going to 3 beaches and striking out, because everything was sanded in we called it a day. On the way home I was passing by a 150 year old park that's been hunted to death so I pulled in figuring I got a few hours to burn. I got out on the field and seen fresh plugs
but I picked up a few and saw that they were very shallow as everything is at 8" and deeper at this park. So I set up the etrac to 25 line and started swinging after about 10 minutes I hit two deep wheaties and started to hit bent nails. After digging 5 rusty nails I came up on a very faint but repeatable mixed signal. So I dug a 10" plug scanned the hole and nothing, stuck the pinpointer about another 2" down and got a faint hit. Now I'm thinking another nail but decided to scoop out another 6" of dirt, got the clump out and scan it & boom a solid 12-45 in the clump. Broke up the clump and popped out a huge liberty head coin! I thought it was fake at first but after looking at it close up I saw 1824 & one cent on the back! Doing the happy dance now as this is my first ever large cent and my oldest coin found. So after coming back to earth I get back to swinging and managed to hit a few more wheaties and clad then came across a funky signal bouncing all over. Dug it and at about 10" a 1906 Indian appeared. After that I dug another deep funky signal and pulled out a loaded 6 shooter cylinder. Called it a day after that, so in all I got 11 wheaties oldest being 1911 & 1913d ,1906 Indian, and 1824 lc. but no silver. Today I went back to the same place and decided to work the sidewalk area by a big tree. In no time I popped a merc and a few wheats. Moved by the tree and dug 2 nails, my third nail turned into a 1903 Indian! Stuck by the tree and started hitting early wheats then another merc. Couple of more nails and another Indian 1895. Then a very faint but repeatable 12-45,12-47 signal dug a 10" plug scan it and nothing pulled out another few inches and boom another merc. I see a 1916 and the back has something on it too but it's an S
Moved away from the tree and came up on a spill of pennies all at 4-5 inches so I swung really slow and got a 12-45 dug it and another merc! Decided to dig the 12-42s and they were all wheats, then another 12-45 & another merc and a Washington quarter in the same hole. So the take today was 20 wheats, 2 indians, 5 mercs and a washington. I'm 23 away from 300 silver coins for the year hope I can hit it. Sorry about the super long post. Enjoy the pics & HH!
