I found two pewter USA buttons today in a field near 1/4 mile from the Indian village of Catherine`s Town wiped out by Gen. Sullivan in 1779, i think these buttons are period.
I also found a dropped three ringer,we don`t see many of these this far north .
Found a lot of beer cans and iron too.

Congrats on making it up there Gary, well deserved.

Psyched to see those up top Gary. Congrats buddy. Awesome stuff.

Those are a great representation of what a historic relic should be. I couldn't vote fast enough Gary. Congrats to you. I hope you find more today!

BIG CONGRATS GARY!! It doesn't get much more Historical than that!!

Outstanding finds GAP congrats brother....:occasion14:

Congratulations Gary,

You've sealed them now, but I haven't seen mention here of putting them in a small case so they can be handled without fingers touching them. Even with the greatest care, eventually handling will degrade them. And an air tight case will keep environmental factors at bay.

Keep the faith!

Yes! Lots of nice little air tight button holders out there.

Congrats on the banner. Epic buttons! GL&HH.

Gary - Congrats not only on a well deserved banner, but more importantly on TWO excellent saves! Can't imagine the excitement of seeing those appear in the dirt for the first time. :blob7:

Great find! I've often wondered what could be left from the Sullivan Campaign. Congratulations on your Banner find! Something like 235 & 1/2 years in the ground, covered in snow and frozen every year and still makes the Banner. Awesome!

Wow, two pewter USA's with intact loops in one day? You lucky dog! Maybe you stumbled into a picket post or campsite. Looking forward to seeing more finds from that site.

Not fingers you have to worry about, it's dropping them to a hard surface. Even just a few inches can do a damage, a foot and you're likely in trouble.
