I found this photo pendant in a creek about 3 inches from the water line. A railroad bridge that has been there since before the civil war crosses the creek.
I'm assuming from what I can see from the 2nd pic there is a small space between the filigree and the flat surface of the pendant, which more than likely held a tintype photo. These were popular during the Victorian period and continued on to the 1920's or so. There is a slight possibility it could be a 'hair' pendant, but 99% of them were under glass or resin. Saving, displaying, wearing, etc. hair of a deceased family member was extremely popular during the Victorian times too.
