I was hoping someone could help me read the words on the lid of this jar. The jar has a very unusual shape. I think it says pickled meats, but I'd love to know what the logo says. Beer Cleveland? I see a crown... I know this isn't a treasure, but I think it is fun. Thanks!

PEER Food Products Co maybe. PEER foods in Chicago has a logo with similar parts (wreath and crown) and in business since 1867.

Oh brilliant! Thank you so much. I wonder what kind of meat went in that small, oddly shaped jar. I can't wait to do a little more research to try and find that out. Pickled meats are not popular where I live in Maine.

Looks like a pickled pigs foot jar.

Pickling meats or fish didnt need refrigeration. Kind of a lost art.

I don't care if it has milk gravy, a rose on the can or anything else. :nono: Actually adding the milk gravy makes it look like it has white and grey matter running out of the brains. :o It makes the "starvation diet" look like a far better option to me and definitely more appetizing Lol! :laughing9: For over eaters or people on diets who put pictures on their refrigerators as deterrents to stop them from eating too much or too often, this would be the BEST picture to use! They would lose even more weight and especially after throwing up. :icon_pale: To think that I thought head cheese looked horrific... ::)

I thought you were joking so I just had to look it up. It is actually a dessert made with suet/mutton fat with raisins and currants that is big with the English. Ewww! Then again how is kidney pie even appetizing? :dontknow:

Now I do love and make Yorkshire Pudding. However I don't put gravy on mine. I eat it for dessert with jam on it. I horrified my British sister-in-law by doing that. It was like that old commercial where the British lady faints because somebody called a fruit spread jelly Lol! :laughing7: Although when I visited my brother and her last summer and she made some, she actually admitted to me that she has since seen others doing the same. Bloody Hell will wonders never cease?
