Please help me prove my boyfriend wrong!

Does anyone think this may be something or according to my boyfriend "It's just a piece of junk, you're crazy"! I found it near Aiken, SC sticking out the side of a creek bed. It's about 7 inches long, made out of iron. One side of it looks like it has a pattern of some kind on it, and the other side looks something like a hoof maybe? Could it be a piece of a statue? Maybe my imagination is running away from me and my boyfriend's right. I don't know, any and all help with this would be greatly appreciated!

It was all in good fun but some people you cannot joke with. I see people joking here all the time and its not usually a problem. I guess a new member falls in the category of little to no joking. Although there is joking on some other threads, even with new members.

One thing I want to add is SAVE EVERYTHING until you can get it properly identified. And dont be embarrassed to ask questions or post pictures of junk. However you may get some joking but its not really an attack on your intelligence. Its all in good fun. I would imagine we all have found something we think is treasure in the beginning only to find out later its trash. The fun part is to find what we think is trash and later discover its a valuable artifact. Also there are many experienced people here and you dont want to lash out at those that are willing to donate their time to help a beginner.

Congrats on finding something unusual! Always gives me a buzz. Keep it even IF it does turn out to be scrap. Make an interesting artifice on fireplace mantle. I'd always wonder about its back-story and it's location too. Well done!

its your find -- whatever it might be .. if you like it fine --to many detecting folks )like your boyfriend) iron relics are "junk items" --because their not silver or gold and unless there in great shape to be sold as relics --they have little to no fiscal value ...so they think of iron items a "leveright" items .... as in leave er right there ...
