Hey guys, which season have you found best for CRH. I know many may not think it matters, but I was thinking about it today and I would personally assume Winter is best just because of the cost of living goes up for some people in Winter. I'm curious to know anyone else's take on it though.

Some associate December with winter, but the winter solstice occurs late in the month. Year after year, the best culls for me occur in late fall leading up to the holidays.

I understand some people believe they have better finds during the winter season but for me the summer time is a prime season for a few reasons. I don't need to worry about school, no snow or ice, usually very nice weather allows me to get from point A to point B much quicker, and the most important point of all, I can crh 7 days a week if I want to.

Spring/summer- I voted spring, though summer is nice too. My 30-box half dollar skunk streak started in mid August, and lasted up until Mid-February, 6 months of complete NOTHING. Now my boxes are finally starting to pick up. One keeper per box is definately better than none :icon_sunny:

While anything can be turned in at any time, I have found that specifically the months leading up to christmas are definitely the best by far. This past dec I scored multiple solid rolls of haves and near solid dimes, and even 53 war nickels out of only 10 dollars worth of nickels. One of the solid half rolls was even an original mint roll of 64 Kennedys. The bad economy with christmas arriving I believe prompted many collections around me to be turned in. I would assume it happens else where also.
I also had a major up swing just after summer last year from box orders. I am guessing here that the same type of thing happened here with people going on summer vacation. I did not start really hunting until August, so I think I only picked up the tail end of that peak.
I am also predicting a small peak as spring break for schools approach. I am guessing that a lot of collections may be "borrowed" from parents by kids needing cash for a trip.
There is a lead up to those events, a peak and then a gradual fall from my records. Right now I am in a low for finds now, tough in feb, and even a little slower start for march. It may just be the area I live in but I would assume it is similar all over the country with of course the random collection(s) thrown in. This is from information gathered from about 3-5k a week in boxes and CWR when available over the last 8 months.
But of course that is just my theory.

Summer. In BWR I find tons of silver and wheats probably when kids break into grandpas collection and use $100 to buy a $5 ice cream treat. I also have set up connections with all the gas stations and dollar stores + an ice cream place that call me whenever something comes in, and usually I pay face value for it. Usually its been wheats, halves, nickels. When I get them I get silver quite often, and pay a little more than face for it

i agree, i have found more silver in cwr and in gas stations in the summer because of this reason. On the other hand the few weeks after xmas seem to be great for MWR around here.
