Possible old coin?

Any ideas if this is a coin and what type?
I found this detecting a beach in St Martin on the French side.
It apears to be silver and the only thing that you can see is the letter
M on it. Sorry about the poor quality of the photo.

The picture looks like copper but hard to tell.

Looks interesting! If copper could be a maravedi (Spanish).

Looks like a Byzantine bronze "Nummus" coin to me, similar to this one

not SPECIFICALLY this example, as they were made for centuries there are many variations
