Went to an old school in Columbia IN today and the first target I dug was this copper piece of metal that had been rolled into a circle. At first I was ticked then I laughed. I'm torn between it being funny and it being disrespectful. What are your thoughts?

sounds to me like too many people beating the same path. I guess the tag insures you will find something no matter what! LOL!

I wish I'd dug one of those several times when I thought my research was wrong, getting onto a site loaded with iron but no non-ferrous hits anywhere. Would've been nice to at least have it validated that I was "in the right spot"--even if that is just where relics used to be!

Anyone who digs one of those will likely hunt harder, more thoroughly, and more conscientiously than if they'd never dug a tag from a previous hunter. The difference could actually make for a better hunt--cause then you've got something to prove!

I like the whole idea, I'd like to see a contact number or something also put on tag. It would be a good way to compare notes as to what was found there by both parties and just to be able to let the tag owner know it was found.
