I haven't been out allot lately, my son and I went on a short hunt with Oldjerseygirl.
He got skunked, she found a wheat and I found a wheat and this compact. I have found allot of compacts over the last year but not in as nice shape as this one. My son googled it while I was still looking and it said it was 1920's-1930's and allot of women hide there half dollars inside. So we had to look! Ha, just dirt! Lol

Yes thats true women did put coins in compacts my buddy Ed found one at our park it had a barber quarter inside..Nice find for sure..

That would have been a real thrill, I'd like to see a pic of that

At least the mirror and the hinge are intact!
That piece would 'tumble' clean up nicely!

Dave
I'd be scared it would come apart? What would you use and how would you do it?

That was a rough place to hunt. Almost impossible with all the junk. Glad you found something interesting anyway.
Shame, that place had some potential, I still like that other town better, maybe after the holidays I'll knock on some more doors, I don't want to bother people with my vacuum cleaner sales pitch just yet, ha lol.

Supposed to be in the low 50's here tomorrow with 1/2 to 1 inch rain. Perfect reason to own an ATP! Hope it isn't too muddy, lol. Guess the boxers will stay at home, but I am sure going to try and get out! Good luck on your permission seeking.

Good luck Dave, I might hit an old spot if its not raining too hard.

I would use polished aquarium gravel Brad, hot water & liquid dish soap, I'd let it tumble for 2hrs then check to see how much corrosion is left.
Sometimes a short tumble is all that's required to even out the verdigris on brass.
Dave

PS. Here's a compact I found in September... I preferred the patina it had already and felt that tumbling wasen't needed.
