Can't say for sure what kind of stone it is, but I don't think it's glass. :icon_thumright:

Looks like amethyst to me too.

What is truly unusual in my experience is the fish etched into the base. Someone spent some time with that fish.

A stone with rounded face presented for viewing is called a cabachon. Amethyst is often faceted today, suggesting this stone has some years on it.

Thank you very much!! Amethyst would be great!! I saw quite expensive silver rings on Ebay...

But i don't understand all expressions so i am a bit confused :icon_scratch:

Could you please help me to understand it better? :tard:

Thank you again!

It's amethyst with lots of internal cracks. Still a pretty piece though with the silver setting.
Probably one of the reasons for the cab cut. Higher quality (no internal issues) amethysts are faceted beacause they won't splinter during the faceting process.

Ditto to what Jon said. You dont facet anything that isn't "eye clean", meaning no inclusions or cracks can be seen in the inside of the rough stone. Well, at least I dont. Cabochon cutting it is then a good option.

Exceptions are when the faws can be removed during shaping/cutting and of course Emerald where inclusions are acceptable.
