Puzzling Piece

Any Ideas The only threads are where the two pieces join together.. The rounded piece is hollow and feeds into the larger cylindrical beveled piece. Found on an early 1800's farm site.

Wondering if it might be some kind of lubrication fitting and part of a bearing for a large shaft. Not sure why the fitting would need to be so large, though. Similar in theory to this picture:

I agree on the application, but I think the cavity was probably for oil instead of grease. Interesting find whatever it is.

I agree....lubrication fitting. The "inside" surface shape looks like it fit around a shaft.
