Thebronze, thanks for posting. Don't stress about the nomenclature - you'll pick it up as you read more about the hobby. As galenrog noted, this quarter looks a bit old and has some damage on the reverse, but no notable errors. Even the date, which looks rotated a bit clockwise, is correctly placed near the leading edge of the neck. Best thing to do is pick up some books. A couple I'd recommend are "Strike it Rich with Pocket Change" and a current copy of the official red book guide to US coins.
