Quick Comfort also made gas hot plates, a small two burner stove that would sit on top of the old wood burner cook stove. Towns had their own gas systems. Tony

Individual houses had their own gas systems sometimes too. My parents house is in a rural area and part of it dates back to the civil war and it was added onto in the early 1900's. There are still fixtures for gas lights on the walls and behind the house in the ground is a metal tank called a gas well. I alway thought it was cool but never really checked to see how it all worked. But kind of know.
