Rain yesterday - Sandstorm today

Hello,

Managed to get in a nice long hunt today, and my feet are telling me all about it. Wind was blowing strong for a good part of the day, driving sand into the water, and blasting me at the same time.

It was a very warm day, and a lot of people were out enjoying it. Managed a lot of targets again, but, no jewelry at all. Oh well, maybe tonight or tomorrow .

Hey Anthony,

Any idea what the goofy looking guy was doing? NOAA does all kinds of work on the oceanfront. Any chance he was measuring beach erosion? If so, he might be somebody I'd like to be buddys with.

Looks like alot of our hard earned tax dollar sand has been washed back out to sea...............

I thought about coming out yesterday....but decided my painting project was more important since my dau comes home in less than a month and I have to get things in order for her arrival!

Go out and find another BANNER!!!!

we managed to miss all the rain up north yesterday - had one hard shower around 4 - sunny most of the day

some good dirt finds made by all - mostly buttons jimmy did find a homemade ring from silver halve dollar - old baby

took my camera and when to take some pics................left the battery home - had the card this time, usually it is the other way around........................called oldtimers....................

lady who owned the farm cooked dinner and apple pie for us all.........................now this was a nice hunt.

jimmy took lots of pics, so i will have some soon

i may see u in the lane today.....................

It looks like he is checking beach erosion; that's VERY HIGH END GPS that survey people
and geologist use ( accurate down to around -1" ) May well be NOAA person. Try to talk to
him next time you see him if you can you may just learn somethine you can put to use. HH

There was so much rain on the radar yesterday morning I called off my relic hunt. I will have the opportunity to go again in a couple weeks tho .

Yes, they were all down in the wet sand. 3 were in the same hole even!

I thought about talking to him, but he seemed rather busy. He did his thing there, walked 10 feet back in torwards shore, and did it again. Did that as far as I noticed torwards the boardwalk. I assumed he was taking sand height measurements, but I did not want to bother him.

I made a really simple sand height measurement device awhile back. A 10 ft length of PVC with a cheap laser pointer mounted in a hole I drilled. A small line level epoxied to the side finishes the tool. Drive another piece of PVC into the sand at the mid-tide mark, so you can measure from the same point everytime. Day to day, set the tool on the sand at the marked point, be sure the tool is level, and measure the difference in the laser hit on the hotel behind you.
