Folks,

I think I'll be trying this recipe on the weekend. There's a park about 25 acres nearby that has tons of dandelions and the city doesn't use any herbicides heck it's like 10 or 15 years that they've been against the law in my area.

So I'll whip up a batch and let you folks know how it turns out.

I had a Great Uncle that made dandelion wine. When I was 5 or 6 years old we were visiting and I was begging to try some. They gave me a shot and then laughed at my facial expression. It burned all the way down to my toes. The next day I was out in the front yard digging up dandelions. My mom asked me what I was doing and I told her I was getting dandelions for Uncle Thurman so he could make more wine. Needless to say she let me have at it.

Well, This farm was purchased in 1832. I haven't been able to research much more than that. I was told by a friend that the creeks are created by drainage tile from the fields that would have been put in in 1940's or 50's. But my husband said the ravines would have been there with some sort of creek. IDK

Any way, no tiles have been found at the end of the creek where the foundation is. Now I understand flooding would have carried them to the end by where those buzzards were perched in my first post. However, one would think I would still find a couple in the area of the foundation, don't you think?

Well when it comes to trying to reconstruct history when you have just bits and pieces and not the whole story it's not always easy to get it right....lol.

Archelogists even though they hate to admit it a lot of their assumptions are just that assumptions and not based exclusively on hard facts.

Thanks for the chuckles I've dug maybe 25 or 30 gold rings over about 25 years doing only land hunting and probably way more silver rings than that. But I have to admit that pulltabs, can slaw and other junk outnumbered the good rings by about 100 to 1. Heck we'd probably have better luck playing the lottery but we'd have way less fun of the chase....lol.

Wrong it is actually in a small place called Lower Kintore, New Brunswick in Canada.

Have totally lost any sort of off-the-wall schedule I might've had before. Now I'm just in "Coast Mode". Been over a week and a half now and still eating almost nuttin' but mashed taters & gravy. On a good note, the infection is getting better now. On a bad note, I realized yesterday morning that I'd been hit head-on with a cold on top of everything. And on an out-of-tune note, at least I love my wife's mashed taters & gravy!!

With any luck I'll be graduating up to oatmeal by the first of next week.

I was told that farms, especially poor country farms, didn't bother with privies. I don't know how true that is. I can tell you I spent all of my new years day 2017 probing and found nothing.
