I wondered. We lived in a town on the Mississippi River 4 or 5 decades ago and in grade school they drilled the spelling into our heads ! To this day, I can spell it "almost" as fast as it takes someone to pronounce the word :dontknow:.

Very cool Simon. I live near the Tombigbee river and the government took in on themselves to dredge into a waterway for barge traffic. It's 100 yrs wide and averages 9' deep. Stays muddy most of the time and the fishing is not all that good except for the backwater in places. Cost 2 billion in 1985. Most of us guys that fish go to State parks around the area. It runs from the Northeast to Mobile bay.
