Im off to sift for wreck emeralds. It took the entire trip to figure it out, but yesterday I finally caught a group of 3 doing it. They were low key and had there equipment hidden from view, but the scoop with no detector was the giveaway. I finally witnessed them in action by observing from afar, and saw them using some hand held sifters. I also saw some evidence of other digs. It looked like a turtle nest but not quite the same. I tried to out wait them and try myself but they stayed quite awhile. It was by far the biggest discovery of my trip. I can now return at any time and have a good chance at finding one if I put in the time and effort, and have a little patience. So im gonna get to the site early today and give it a go. Probably wont get one on the first try but I do have good beginners luck. This is super exciting to me to actually know the spot to within feet !! This is the last couple days of my vacation but like the terminator says"ill be back" any time I want I can leave my house in the keys at 5 am and be here by 8 am. Wooo hooo ! I got to go check it out !!
