See, you aren't missing much action right now. Mine is 6:30. There is always so much to catch back up on when I log back in. I just hang out and try to keep this thread up in the top tier until the cavalry arrives. These guys are a bunch of funny people, which you probably have already noticed.

Yes, I actually worked nights. I was retirement age several years ago. Today is my birthday and I am SERIOUSLY thinking that "Today is the day " !. I am still trying to decide for sure, but I need more free time. My parents, my grandparents, and my great grandparents ALL died young from heart disease. I have it and my son has it, so I am thinking it's time to stop and smell the roses while I can.

I vote go for it! You may be the last generation to actually be able to retire! Go do the things you love, just make sure to share the memories here so we can all dream of the day we don't have to work 65 hour weeks to get by! And happy birthday!

Hey thanks The1rod ! How true you may be in saying this may be the last generation to retire. From here, the future doesn't look as bright as it did when I was young.

Yeah it's quite a scary thought, my 401k got put into a. "target 2065" retirement plan, at which point I will be 75! If I stay in the industry I'm in I'll be lucky to live to 75, and if I do I know I'll be too crippled to do anything good!

Isn't that the truth. They say the life span will be longer, but how can they be so sure ? And at 75 ? When I was little, hardly anyone made it. Do you get to contol how the investments are made in your 401k ?
