Glad you're joining in....luckily no one here bites or at least not that hard or often...lol.

As for me I retired quite young just shy of 52 in 2001 so it will be 17 years this summer time flies when your having fun. Mind you I started at 17 so I put in 35 years at the same company and they want me to move to Calgary my answer was I'm out of here at 55 so why should the company go through all the expense and hassle of transferring me for 3 years.

So here I am being a pest on the internet...lol.

I vote go for it! You may be the last generation to actually be able to retire! Go do the things you love, just make sure to share the memories here so we can all dream of the day we don't have to work 65 hour weeks to get by! And happy birthday!

Retired shy of 52, sounds like my dad there Bill. He was high up at AT&T when the Supreme Court said they had a monopoly and forced them to sell off. My dad was able to basically do the same. They offered him other packages to stay on under the "Baby" Bell name, but he said he stood to make an incredible amount by just opting out and taking early retirement. He bought 380 acres of land, 80 was farm land and 300 was timber. He bought it to have a hobby.
