Caught a rare moment when Dad recognized me.
Tried to be calm and said "I love you Dad".

He pushed my arm and said "go on."
I said " no , I'm going to stay here and love you".
His eyes kinda pleading he said "let me go."
"Understood" was my reply.
"Relax Dad. Friends and family are waiting by the fire. Maybe a shoot after a while. You're going to eat good."

Then we had the nurses start unhooking him. And upped his sedation.
He still fights to breath. But no longer struggling to fight everything attached to him ,and fighting a too small unfamiliar bed and surroundings like he has been.
Good to see him near relaxed.

Heavy hearts though. Natural reactions....
It's good that Dad was in on the planning when he was well enough to be.

I am going to climb up to my perch in the crow's nest for a nightly snooze. Just have to figure out how to do it with out spilling the rum. [emoji39]

I’m crying! Oh my gosh, RC! Praying for you you and your family! I/ we had similar moments with my mother in law. She lived her last 4 weeks in our house. I was closer to her than my own mom. It hurt like all get out for quite a while but now I hold those moments very dear to my heart and they put a smile on my face. Strength, peace and comfort to you!

Not sure what to say but it hurts like he*l watching those you love go down hill. I've been through it more times than I wished over the years and it ain't easy.

Do any of you watch pawn stars? Mr WD makes fun of me for digging and cleaning bottles. Actually we found one the other day that I haven’t got posted yet. Any way, this guy from Texas goes in and says he metal detects and such and wants to sell a couple bottles he found. One he sold to them for $50.00 ( I think). I don’t remember what it was. The other was a rattlesnake oil and he got $250.00 for it! I was like,” See! See! They are not trash!” I hope someone on here finds one of those!

RC, So sad to hear about your dad. He understands what is going on and if he says it's time to go, he must know. It is hard on family because we think, and want them to live forever. He is choosing his own terms and I pray it is peaceful. Stay strong my friend.
