Well went to several places detecting for civil war artifacts today and didn't find much from running away from pop up showers and skeeters but when I left there we decided to check out a possible turn of the century home place till one of the landowners we hunt on got home. Was walking along out in the back yard of this old house and never found anything good except for 2 zinc cents when I walked near a recent looking burn pit and right on top of the ground where some dirt had been turned over was this token. It reads on the obverse "save at the sample stores bentonville and Rogers Arkansas" and on reverse says " every dollar earns 3% interest 3 cents" looked it up and it's a freaking r-9 on rarity and only 3 to 5 known to exist. Talk about a good day:)

Dude, settle down with the quiting Treasurenet comments! I have found several rare Civil War bullets and some other rare stuff that I just knew was going to make Banner, but they didn't and it really doesnt matter to me anymore. I am still finding some cool stuff, I just don't post them on here much, but I should! Try not to get so offensive with people on here, show them people from Razorback country can take whatever they dish out! Maybe it is a Banner find and maybe it ain't, but to you it's a Banner find! Keep at it and you'll find something that may be up there someday!
Happy hunting

I'm not sure they were. However, what does it matter. If you like it, that's all that matters. Stick with it, your good days on here far out weigh the bads ones. I know I've had a few over the years.

sweet! tokens are cool. rare ones are even better :icon_thumleft:

Ok Idaho joe blow or whoever you are you don't live here nor doubt you have a updated version of the token book. My numismatist who has personally worked at pcg before opening his own business and has probably graded more coins than you ever dreamed of touching gave me this info

this was completely unnecessary

ok here is the data on your token from page 912 of rulau's token guide and i quote"aluminum 32mm undated 3 cent token are among the commonestof akansas tokens, worth about .50 cents in unc. condition, and are not 19th century pieces.Several die varieties were issued circa 1945 by glade w miller who ordered perhaps 20,000 pieces, and large hoardes overhang the market." end quote
just stating facts from the guide book..sorry

Mack obviously whoever owns that one isn't bright enough to look in the Arkansas token catalogue. There is a little story on it plus it shows the rarity of it. Obviously I look up what I find and do a bit of research before posting. Plus I have sold several tokens and have already talking to my numismatist that I sell to. The other guy is crazy if he sells that thing on ebay

what is the publishing date of this book and also i notice that the last line i can read where it list the rarity seems to say that as of that publishing more were found???

Teverley first of all I have a book and the two other token was made by and for mr glade in eureka springs for his store. As the right up says it is marked as a rarity 1 due to the fact that between 30-71 are known to exist. The token I have was not made by mr. glade. It was also privately made but was made for Sam Walton in his store that was before he came up with Walmart. This is where glade got his idea. Tom Robinson a cataloger found out that a man from bentonville had came up with the idea of the token and I quote mr Robinson as saying the bentonville and Rogers token is to be found considerably scarce and the glade token is very common.

Umrgolf dont know what your problem is I am simply stating what I am reading and what I have been told by dbkj numismatics and exonumismatics. If these two companies are not competent enough to do their jobs and tell someone what something is and isn't then I guess you and teverley better go get a application and take their jobs from them cause sounds like to me you know more than them both.

And umrgolf open your eyes cause it is the same token. Glade took the 3cent idea off of the Walton coin and put it on his.

I could care less if your token is rare. You are the only one (aside from the "experts") who seems to think that its rare. Even if the people attempting to help you are wrong, your responses have been ridiculous.

You should have posted your token and asked if anyone knows about it. There a lot of knowledgeable people here that may see your post and be able to help you out. You came here telling everybody that it's rare. If you personally don't know then you get what you get.

Ok let's try again. Everybody I'm not sure what this circular piece of medal is. Please help. Bout to put it in scrap aluminum pile

Nooooooo don't do that. That's a very rare token you have there. It's worth lots of money

Oh well already outside. Just like some said " ohhh it's very common" so then I'll just find another

dont get pissy with me..you put up a pic and stated what you found and again if you just found this token and have not submitted it for authentication then until they see it and examine it how do they know for sure.....
i simply posted the information stated in mr Ruluas book....which is considered to be the guide for tokens....fact is that there are several die varities and they are listed under the same heading which says GLADES eureka springs MOST of these tokens are probably common...i can not find it listed seperately in this book or on richards token data base..if indeed these are so rare why is there not more info on them..
just because i post info that comes from a widely acccept info platform contrary to what you have posted does not give you leave to be a jerk to me.....we can all be wrong at times and i appreciate all input from others on things i find because i dont know everything and neither does anyone else on this site....

WOW! Is this token cursed or something? It sure does seem to bring out the worst in people. Maybe you should throw it in the scrap pile. (lol just kidding don't do that) I personally don't know nor do I care who's right but I do know one thing for sure and that is something is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it.
