I contacted my hunting partner and got a couple of pics of his red artifacts. This banner was found in Piatt Co IL. A local farmers son took over operations and broke out a pasture along the creek that had never been farmed. This was right on top after the first big rain. No sign of a grave but our soil is acidic and bones don’t survive.

This is another from Piatt Co. From a classic Hopewell site. He found other pipe fragments and Snyders points as well. This is IL pipestone from a source near Sterling, IL on the Rock River. Many of the platform pipes found in OH mounds are from the Sterling source. Other later mounds have only pipestone from an OH source.

This point is also from Piatt Co.

That's some excellent stuff there!

El Dorado County N. California personal finds. I have a lot of red points in my collections.

Feel free to post any red artifacts here; here's a few of mine. Found in SW Georgia and N. Alabama.
20240118_123106.webp Here's 2 of my red finds from Jersey Co. Il. The half red one was found while I was metal detecting , had a mid tone signal that turned out to be junk but turned the point up in the same hole!!
