Well, I bought a variety of coins over the last couple of days, not great, but it all adds up!

Bought $220 in quarters, no silver, but filled a few for my binder

Bought $300 in dimes, scored 3 1964 Rosies :)

Bought $200 in Nickels, and got 25 Pre '60, but no war silver. Did get what I think is a 55 D over S error, but I need a better loupe to be sure. Scanning it didn't work either. And dangit, bought a cool camera last Christmas, but the macro is sh#$%.

I found a "in" with the bank though, so I might get some halves after all. There are also a few rolls of pennies floating around too, I am buying them up and stashing the copper.

I guess I better get a Japanese Currency book, and start searching that, lol

You must be waaay ahead of US timewise- its only 6:30 AM November 29, where I'm at. Congrats on the silver. HH Mark

Rock on, I look forward to seeing your count get higher.
I think that looking into the local currency is a great idea and could produce some very interesting things.

How is life with out pennies? better? worse? I know it sucks for collecting but for over all use is it better?

I think we are about 16 hours ahead of Pacific time.
Actually, I think not having many pennies is a good thing. I have to hand roll all my coins to take back to the bank. Major pain in the butt. It seriously cuts down on my actual hunting time. I used to be up to about 1k in dimes and nickels a week, but I can't handle that much here. I am also already seeing my rolls come back to me. Hoping that was just a fluke. I have found what I think are a couple of older yen coins, but since I don't read Kanji, it is tough to be sure, lol.

There is a coin dealer on the island(very over priced), who sells some of the currency, so I might be able to score a book from him. He also told me that since the island was ran by the US until 70something, there is a ton of silver still here, but being held by the locals. He said they come in all the time, and he gives them 4.5x face for their silver. Man, I wonder how many keydates he has from that? He has a 1909 VDB for sale in his store. I bet that is how he got that one too.

I will post more results as I get em.
Thanks for looking!
