River Prospecting

Just a quick question... When mining in a river, should I dig deeper in the river to get gold or should I stay on top of the surface and move around more?

Lets see, your in Indiana. Are you running a sluice or just panning? What kind of mining are you doing?

Deeper, always deeper. To bedrock, if possible. Water, when enough to move the gravels, "stratifies" the mess by weight. Gold on the bottom, in most cases. Stick around this Tnet and you will learn much from the guys and gals. TTC

Yup, dig deep, clean out cracks and clean behind big stationary objects.
