DSC09751.webpDSC09750.webpDSC09752.webpDSC09754.webpDSC09502.webpthis one is my BEST point and YES IT'S REAL! Made of red wine colored obsidian which is fairly rare(I think) in itself. It measures 8 3/16" long by 1 5/16" at the base. I found 15 other smaller points at the same site( 6 were a colorful agate material the rest were black obsidian) as well as over 3000+ shell and bone beads. I don't show it much cause most don't believe its authentic or question my collecting methods. I have never tried to get a COA on it cause I will probably never sell it. It is definitely the "banner find of my life" and am very proud of it. Merry Christmas to all you head hunters and thanks for all the great info and comments on my collection so far!!!

...never seen one prettier than that!!! Thanks for sharing the whole picture :) outlaw & Merry Christmas to you!

if you got that one papered it might sell for 276k just saying

Extraordinary !!!!!! Merry Christmas. You have to tell a story of the find if you post a killer like that!! Happy Holidays.

Looks to be just as perfect as those four or five pieces in the background. Are those personal finds also?

''Just my opinion'', but it doesn't show any aged patina. It appears to show a little too much sheen or reflectiveness for being buried in the ground for an extended time. I am not doubting your find, but it does appear somewhat dubious.

you are entitled...none of the obsidian I have found shows patina.

I looked it up and now know what a grey ghost is. I've not heard that one before. I learned something today Thnx for that info GTP.
Where was this found?....Not discrediting your find, but that point has all the earmarks of a grey ghost...........GTP

I bought a parcel of land site unseen north of Chino Valley in AZ. It was one of those 1000.00 down and 100.00 a month deals on TV back in the 80's. Ended up being a crappy piece of land very steep with a giant boulder coming out of a hill. I built a small hunting cabin backed up to the rock the artifacts were found while trying to level the area. No bones and only a few pieces of pottery, I did find a few copper beads that were definitely cast and a bunch of shell and bone beads, also found what they call desert rose formations and a strange shaped quartz specimen. I will post a pic of it.DSC09765.webp DSC09766.webp I have searched the entire acreage very well and found no other stuff. This long story is because Tn ask to know about how the point was found
That had to have come from a grave/mound. Or a cubby hole in a shelter/cave. It does look like a ghost. I would have it authenticated for that reason. Thanks for sharing! Merry Christmas!

Obsidian does not patinate well at all. I've been told by an authenticator friend of mine that Windex will clean them off like it does the grime on your windows.

Here is a Grey Ghost I knowingly picked up (bought) a few years ago. They are getting collectable too.

Thnx for the example quito... The only time I see obsidian show patina is on surface finds. They seem hazy from the blowing sand etching them.

Hey outlaw, dont feel bad about that point in the least bit. It is amazing and i believe you.
I also have have a beautiful blade that looks suspect as well. I saw it come out of the ground with my own eyes. Its the finest piece i have ever held.
One of my friends posted it on here a few years back, before i was a member, and a bunch of the other members ripped him apart for posting a "fake" relic. He left the site because of it. Never posts or even looks at others posts.
I dont dare show it because i dont want to get in a fight.
I enjoy the relic you found and wish i coulda been with you when you found it. Truly amazing.

Beautiful point outlaw.Definetly banner material...Been there on the negative naysayers.I understand skeptism i dont understand these people who show their ignorance by throwing around accusations. No one should feel hesitant about posting finds unless they have something to hide.I like sharing my finds i dont need any help with authentication.I authenticated myself when i pulled it out of the ground.Anyways nice find congradulations.Merry christmas...

i still say that is the best point found in north america outlaw, the material it is made out of is just way cool,i see people say stuff is not real all the time and really like what mainejman has to say about it.

I believe in anyone's word until proven wrong so to me that point is as real as the guy who found it a truly special find !!!!!!

I was not being judgemental. I was just skeptical in determining it's authenticity. And by the way, I have had my share of critique! It is an extraordinary find at that.

Outlaw i had people saying my point was fake. One who makes reproductions of this style professionaly he had his doubts.Im gonna write it off to my bad pictures. You know what you got.I went searching for opinions and i got them. You gotta take the good with the bad.....
