The Good Luck charm was about eight inches down and on edge. The signal was very repeatable and
had the E-Track totally pegged out on the conductive scale. It was an obvious signal but the
search coil had to be swept slow and low or the response was not repeatable. The brass badge
says "School Patrol" and "Lieutenant" in middle and on the lower part it says "Illinois
Highways" on the E-Trac its signal read just above the nickel range, this item has to have been
down for some some years you would think due to all the rust. And just a tad bit deeper in the
same hole was the top part of a brass key also. It was a pretty good afternoon for detecting the
weather was great!

Yeah the spelling was 
maybe some form of shecrect code ?? I suspected they put some coin in the machine and dialed up some custom text. Maybe now would be a good time to do some research on the "Good Luck" charm machines of the past ! 
, have you been able to get out to detect lately ?
Thanks my Mom was a school teacher she actually taught at one room schools a lots in the past. She said that the schools used to hire people to do patrol work, maybe this is the badge they handed such folks. Maybe some others will have knowledge of this here on the Treasure.net site and enlighten us
