Yeah, I hate the things too. The rule with .22 casings is if you find one there are going to be more in the same area. Can't just shoot one. I dig lots of them and shotgun shells on a favorite site of mine. I just grin and bear it. The .22's are especially a pain in the butt because they are pretty small and sometimes hard to find.
