Hey All! Wicka here :hello:
Well, it's that time... I'm going to sell my "undesirable" finds, (pre1960 nickels, and wheaties)
I'm going to my local coin store who usually gives me great deals when I go and buy, but wonder how he will treat me when I go to sell...
I'm thinking of [AT LEAST] .08$ per a pre 1960 nickel
and [AT LEAST] .04$ for a wheatie of a common date, and more for my wheaties in the 10's, 20's, and 30's :D
Think that's fair?
Accept All Feedback!
Thank you TNET
Wicka

PS: Doing this to upgrade my BANKROLL :laughing7: to $500 so I can do boxes of halves ect.

My LCS offers 55c a silver nickel and 7.60 for 2 40% halves, so I guess he pretty much charges a $1 to extract the silver in each coin,

Well I sold 300 40%ers today on craigs list for $1250 :)
I'm buying a waterproof metal detector next week :)
Gold & bling here I come...

I am going to sell my 40% halves and buy some 1/10 oz gold eagles.

For just 400 wheaties a coin guy will give you 2 cents on the coin. I buy wheats by the pound and trust me no dealer will go that high unless you have either choice coins. Really old 1's . You can get way more money on eBay than to your coin guy for the wheats. You should try to get a wheat book and fill all the slots in and then sell it that way. Makes a lot more money. Or roll them and sell on craigslist in your surrounding as mixed date wheat rolls and sell for 5 bucks a roll. People are always searching as they're hobby. A coin guy is in the buying and SELLING game. 5 bucks a roll dude, but not to a dealer

Cool I hope you get a good price. I've never had to sell any yet, but I've traded some stuff to accumulate more silver. I traded for some silver flatware and got and extra 350 grams of silver out of the deal. Gotta love those deals.

Yeah was thinking about trading some Silver Dimes, and trade them for common date IHC :D? Think that'd be good? About same Value, 2$ a piece. Not the worse :P
Good job on the trade :D

I think the silver dimes would retain their value better. Being a precious metal.

Wicka, hold on to your silver. Can you think of any thing else to sell, perhaps on Ebay/Craigslist? The average American household has $3,000 worth of stuff they don't use.

Just don't want anyone selling right now as the government is more than likely going for "monetary easing" shortly, which always spikes everyhing in price, ie stocks and silver/gold.

Find another avenue to reach your CRH bankroll goals. You'll be glad you did.

Yeah, I just want to expand bankroll because I got 503$.. find 6 halves... and I'm pratically screwed :P Hoping the guy I work for calls me to mow his lawn D:
Need to something, don't feel to comfortable with the eBay scene and craigslist. LCS doesn't ask for my address :o

I crh non silver coins but it's the Ag I love. I wouldn't trade silver for copper. And your $503 bankroll, I'm thinking you're going to find some silver and then come up short. You are cutting it too close. I did two skunk boxes of halves today and one roll only had 18 coins in it.

Can't do much to expand though, school started and I can't work anymore. :( so not much in the way of ideas besides selling finds.. :'(

Hey wicka, get a job, I have one and I have no issue with my bankroll, although I do need a new dumb bank for the $500 in dimes nickles halfs and cents in my room, but for real most fast food places hire students and you only work about 20 a week.

I'm in all honors and advanced classes, hardly have time for homework, never mind a job! I will be skipping homework assignments for Coin Roll Hunting if halves pan out.
Plus since I'm only 15, I don't think I'd be able to get a job at a fast food joint.
Thanks for the opinion.

I'm 16 and I recommend NOT skipping any homework assignments. Unless of course you can manage a 4.0 without doing some.

Wicka, why not present an offer to your mom or dad... ask for a loan, say $100, and offer them 5% interest on the initial $100 per month over a year. You would pay them back just over $13.34 a month... or basically 3.5 40%ers. As long as you find at least 3.5 average per month, anything over that is profit. Its appealing to them because over one year, their $100 turns into $160. Win/win situation. Offer to sign an agreement with them stipulating punishments if you don't naked payments in time, too.

This is not dissimilar to how I managed to buy a PS2 when they came out.

EDIT: I know 60% APR seems high, but there exists no other option for wicka, really...

Good idea. But being you're there son I would first work on them for an interest-free loan, promise to pay it back in full in 3, 6 or 12 months or whatever.
But first you need them to fully understand that what you are doing is building wealth for your future, getting something of value for very little money, much less then it is worth, and it's value is going to just go up as the years go by. AND it's a good legal hobby that that keeps you out of trouble. JMHO

Pshhh! Just flip over some couch cushions(for loose change) or recycle some soda cans..... Cmon man! Your parents won't give you 5 bucks if you wash there car?

Hell, I'm 21, and that's what I'm doing. I have about 3 big black garbage bags filled with crushed soda cans. :laughing7:

My Boss said I can mow his lawn twice a week (3-4 hours) so that'll help. $60 a week is good enough to me! That'll keep me hunting ;)

I still scrap whatever I can, back in February I cashed in a bunch of copper wire that I've been hauling home from different jobs and got 394$. Went to lcs, bought 3 silver eagles to complete my set and some uncirculated Morgans. Free copper turned into silver :)
