So, I have decided to sell some of my finds in order to pay some bills and get a bankroll to go out and find more. I figure I will sell half my stash that I have found in the wild, should work out to be 70ish 40% halves, 20 1964 Kens and 2 dozen walkers/bens. I am sick of Ebay bc I realized they are glomming more than 25% of my profit and don't want to go to a dealer bc I dont want to get wholesale money.

If anyone sells their stuff, how do you guys do it? I have thought about craigslist, but don't want some weirdo coming to my house or having to deal with checks or money orders. Can I use paypal on there? I don't mind paying a small % in order to make my life easy.

Any help would be amazing.

Good Luck and HH!!!!!!

What are you willing to sell for? I'd buy some from you if the price leaves me some room to make a few bucks.

I have never used Craigslist myself, but you could always meet at Walmart or something.
If I were you, I would call up all the jewelry stores and coins stores in your area and see if you can find one that offers a decent amount. I wouldn't sell for less than 85% face value for 90% coins.
I am not certain, but it seems to me like you could probably get about 85% of face on eBay (after fees), since typically the silver sells at about melt value.

I just sold rolls of 90% halves for $270 and rolls of 40% for $100. I just went to my local news website and put up a classified ad and sold it that way. People will call, text or email and then we just meet at a very public place (walmart parking lot or whatever) and that's it. It takes a couple of days to get the best offers and all the logistics worked out but you get more money than going to a coin dealer. I think my local dealer is paying like $24 per $1 face so that's $240 a roll.

It is really up to you and what you feel comfortable with. I feel pretty comfortable anywhere I go around here and plus most of the people that buy coins and silver (from my experience) are old like 50+. I'm 23 and 6'2'', I'm not really scared of these old guys.

good luck and HH!

Sell all of your 40%. Keep the 90%. It shouldn't be too hard finding buyers.

I tried Craigslist, there are a lot of cheapskates there who want free crap. I sold some 40% waaaaaay below melt, they sat there for a month, and I had only one inquiry.
A coin show would be a good bet.

40% is tough. I'm only paying $4 each for them. I saw an add from one of the "we buy gold" places offering $2 each. If you can find someone to pay $5 per, jump on it. At that price I think people would buy dimes first (in my area it seems).

Good Luck and HH!!!!!!
:tongue :icon_pirat: I put an ad on local craigslist and was able to get melt +face for 90%. Met the guy at a bank in Walmart. Good luck..

Sold at $5.25/each for 40%. Put an add on Craig's List and had a hit within 1 hour.

would you be willing to sell a ben or walker for 10 bucks each? how about a 2 for 18 or 4 for 25 deal?

@$13.69 each for melt value on the Walkers, my guess is your offer may be a wee bit low but I could be wrong.

Meet them at a bank........Camera's, security, bill counters that check for fakes etc.......safe for both parties.

Post them on here in the Classifieds,(You need to be a Charter Member $20.00 a year) you should get $270.00 or close for the (20) 64 Kennedys shipped. As for the others Bens and walkers $13.50 each. shipped  40'r's don't do to well

A good coin show is a great place to sell , just make sure you ask a number of dealers before making a decision . In fact this sunday in parsippany nj and the following weekend in white plains [westchster] ny are 2 good shows for selling or buying.

DO NOT MEET IN A PARKING LOT. Especially Walmart!!!! The last thing on the planet you want to do is advertise on a non policed site like craigslist that you have silver coins and then meet a stranger in a friggin walmart parking lot who knows you have them. Might as well tape a $100 to your forehead with a note that says pinata. Arggg. If you wanna go the craigslist route expect at least 10 bogus calls for every one legit call. You will get low balled by resellers for 24 to 30 hours after your ad.

JD's Craigslist Rules of Engagement:

Meet inside a bank ONLY!

Get payed in CASH ONLY!

Arrive BEFORE the buyer does and do not leave until you see the buyers car pull out of the parking lot!

You dont want anyone to know your last name, or address, or license plate number!

Following those rules has kept my head on my shoulders for over 70 craigslist deals over the last 6 months. 3 times in less than a year I know for a fact I would have been robbed or worse had I not been cautious. Dont assume people are all good hearted and honest please.

Great advice JD!!! :hello2: I think it is imperative that we all have an 'exit strategy' for selling our silver. If we fail to plan we might as well plan to fail. This equates to not selling at the right time because we didn't do our research on how were going to sell it. I am going to be calling numerous dealers in the area in the next few days looking for the best price. I'd like to get spot -.25 cents each for all of my 40%ers!

HH,

$ilver$urfer :hello:
