Sensational find of mould for pendants - Viking age !

Hi T-Netters !


This might be the most sensational find that I ever made !?

It is a bronze mould for viking age pendants, most likely of gold or silver.

Historically, you can't get much better of a find than this one! Top notch museum piece. A banner for sure is in your future. Have a back side created and start pumping out some historical pendants!

What can I say that hasn't already been said. Other than its a true Museum piece & a great asset for further research. Just think if we could match up UK found Pendants to that mould!

Love the right angled bar which would have created the hole for the pendant, I wondered how that worked

We need another mould on the banner, my votes in!

Cru I was just looking at that and guess they inserted something in that slot so that when it was poured it would leave a hole to tatch it to. Very Cool Find Dane!

Dane, I just realized that it is bronze. Wouldn't bronze have too low a melting point to be used for anything except to cast tin, pewter, etc? Are you absolutely sure this mold is bronze?

If I found that I would use it to make a pendant out of lead, or silver, for the thrill of being the first person to use it, in what, a thousand years ?
