September Totals from Bigheed + Surprise gift from Dad!

September was my best month ever since June. July and August had been declining even though my volume was increasing.

I didnt blow away my June results but I beat them in every category.

Total Searched: $68,706
Halves: $43,986
Quarters: $2330
Dimes: $22,390
90% Halves: 39 (22x64 Ken, 10 Franklin's, 6 Walkers, 1 Barber) of note was my first "Trifecta Box" that had at least 1 64, Franklin, & Walker + Multiple 40%'s
40% Halves: 135 - For those wondering I did stop at 2 banks one day in Maui and got $74 CWR that had 2x40% and another branch nearby had $80 CWR Skunk
Quarters 4 - 3 Washington's including a beautiful 1960 and the South Dakota silver state quarter (teller saved this one for me!)
Dimes: 101 - 99 Rosies & 2 Mercuries - Both mercs came from different CWR rolls but they both had tape on the ends.....I cried.....where are the other 48 from that tape LOL !!! Also found a CWR roll that 15 dimes which is a record for me.

Overall it was a great month, tons of enders and that Barber back on September 1st made my day & was a great omen for the month!

On the down side I lost my cell phone on the 29th which had alot of great pics from the month I was hoping to share.....I think it is in the house but we have searched high and low and its MIA....according to my verizon records last call was 7pm on the 29th and I was at home, wife was coming home from the spa and then it was gone Friday morning....so either I accidently knocked it in the trash (i searched it, it was nasty but didnt find it), it got abducted by aliens, or its hiding in plane sight laughing at my hysterically !

I also had a nice surprise from my Father. My wife and I planned a trip to Maui and paid for my parents to join us as well. They have more than enough money to retire 3x over on but they are the "thrifty" old couple who only travel "in state" back in MN to my family's places or to their lake house and occassionally to LA to visit the wife & I.

He's been digging around his old office upstairs after I started CRHing and shared my finds with him and what they were worth and he's like, "I think I have a bunch of that somewhere...."

So he brought me
6 Walkers, 5 Franklins, 5x64 Kens
10 Quarters - 9 of which are washingtons and a pretty flat 1926 standing
19 dimes - 17 of which are mercury & 2 rosies, unfortunately no 1916-D :-)
3 War Nickels
2 Canadian quarters (1x1968 & 1 earlier one)
2 Canadian dimes (1x1968 & 1 earlier one)

I was really surprised and insisted he didn't have to but he said he wasn't going to do anything with them anyways. Said he is pretty sure he has more + peace & morgan dollars...so who knows!

Hope October is great for everyone - already did one $250 box of dimes Saturday morning and had 3 rosies in it!

my CRHing budget is 5k, typical day is 3-5k, use lunch hour to do my dumps, pickup after work. Some days less, some none at all.

I think most of the other big volume guys do 4-5k budgets (cards is 4 i think he stated once, DB23 prolly 5k or a little more?)

Nice finds! I wish I could do that volume. My budget is about $1500 right now. Spent it on 3 boxes this weekend... 1 40% in all that! I wish I had time to turn it over more than once/week. From what I have seen on posts here, this is the formula for success:

Lots of Silver = Lots of Volume
Volume = Turnover x Budget

Thus you can get a lot of silver by having a large budget and frequent turnover... it's a simple #s game.
Of course, location and a little luck don't hurt! (i.e. NOT living in Arizona, apparently)

1st off, you have Verizon, that's your problem. LOL jk. 2nd, cool of your dad to give you some Ag, my dad had some that my brother and I got after he passed. And boy do u do a lot of volume. My budget could handle it, just don't have the time

Man, I hate verizon so much. They screwed up my phone bill time after time. Swapped to Cellular South and haven't had a problem yet. Nice way to open October!!

Wow that is one great month! I don't know how you guys go through so many dimes! I picked up 4 boxes Friday and had to save 2 for Saturday because my eyes couldn't take anymore!

Mine varies between 10-12K only because I cannot easily dump the stuff I get at the beginning of the week and frequently wind up holding it until Thursday when TD Bank is open till 8PM. If I had more time during the day, I could easily get away in the 4-5K range.

What I find that works best for dimes & I use for all CRHing so I don't dirty the table with coin crud is to put a layer of white "butcher paper" down. You also need alot of light for dimes.

Then I dump the box out and line up the rolls vertically in front of me in rows and I "roll" each roll towards me one revolution quickly looking for the tell tale signs of a silver dime.
1. Nice white edge on a good condition dime
2. No copper in the edge of semi tarnished dime
3. Black edge of a severly tarnished dime

I find that the contrast shows up real well with the butcher paper and bright light from the overhead lights in the room on full strength. I can do a $500 dime box this way in 5-8 minutes.

if i'm doing CWR dimes (which I do alot of, have several banks that save it all for me weekly) then i just slide them out from one end like doing rolls of halves, scan the surface that is exposed quick, pinch the edges together to check the rims and then toss em in the coin bag.

You must be doing Brinks clear wraps! I can't even open a $250 box of Strings in less than 12-15 min!

I just ordered the parts to build a DIY comparitor like a few others on the forum have done, so I plan on running all dimes through there soon enough.

ya all my boxed dimes are clear wrapped, only paper wrap I get is the CWR.

Good luck with the comparator. If I can ever find a bank that would order me bags in LA I might consider some bags of dimes and ordering a dime wheel for my Ryedale, however I am concerned running dimes through it because theres so many bent dimes that I have seen compared to pennies. Let us know how it works!
