Right off the bat I'd have to guess that is a tad larger than most of the sluices used by the majority of the members here.

Here are a few shots of my humble little sluice I made up from scrap that was on hand in the shop.

Close up of the header box. You can't see it in the picture but there is a shelf under the screen that directs the slurry towards the front of the box. Inside of header and main box dyed black to help gold show up.



Up and running. Still need to increase the water capacity for both water available and the amount it moves through the system. Currently it's pumping just under 2000 GPH. I will also be lightening it up with a new stand made from PVC pipe and fittings.

Here are my two.



The top one is an A51a using all gold hog matting. I popped a couple holes in the top to use a modified tupperware and have a power sluice.



The second is a 12x48 and also uses all gold hog matting. It also can be used as a highbanker. I do need a bigger pump for that though.

My Fluid Bed Sluice

Here is my first attempt at a Fluid Bed sluice....Am putting some sealant into the sides to get them sealed up again, and thinking of switching to punch plate instead of the wire mesh screen.

Have had more than one person look at it, and say, "eh, where are the ripples and carpet's ? That won't work"

All in all has worked great, recovered just over 5 Grams with it, maybe 5-6 trips out. Have plans to build a little bigger version this winter

Here's my homemade highbanker.




I made an earlier video of the highbanker build and posted it on my YouTube channel. It worked awesome this past summer...collecting 2 oz. of gold! Not too shabby for a stress-relieving hobby!

Here's my Bazooka Goldtrap Prospector in its native environment. I got almost 3 hours of digging in today. Was able to dig just 1-5 feet upstream of the sluice so no buckets, no classifying, just lots of digging...max production! The hole I made is almost as big as you'd make with a 4 in dredge in that time...all with just a shovel and the. BGT Prospector!

Thanks DWM! This is on unclaimable land, parks n rec open space, but so far off the trail and totally unknown by other miners that I can leave the dam in place and come back to it next time as if it were my own claim. Sweet deal considering it's also some of the best gold ground in town! (Shh, don't tell!) Here's a shot of the hole...of course it's bigger now ;-) but you can see how close the sluice and the hole are

Pic looks weird because you are looking thru clear water at the creek bed.

Hi all,. haven't used my sluices for a few years now . But like to share some of my sluice "accessories" with ya'll . first one is what I just call a board ,. which you set the sluice on. Easyer to "set" the board correctly in the creek , then the box ,. and have it STAY correct ,. I've made my boards adjustable ,. two pieces held with 2 bolts and wing nuts . Also added as "skirt" to 'em ,. helps get all / most of the water over the box .
I've also found a "water-gate" a big help at times ,. controls water entering the box ,. can even stop water at times ,. letting water supply build ,. check box ,etc.
and there's a few types of screens ,.....??

YES,.. that is a poop-tube ,. believe made from a 8 in. pipe , I've also made '"em from 12 in. pipe . Thay are fast & easy ,. need a good 2 in per ft fall ,. thay hold the gold ,. but always figured a round walnut size nugget would just roll on out ??

Very cool....U Like the rubber piece in front ? I have thought about trying a similar piece just in front of the mesh, I have a small nug trap / lip that I see pieces get trapped up in. Looks good though

Ok... After some field testing of the sluice I posted at the start of this thread I've decided that it still won't move enough materials for my taste. soooo... I'm in the process of designing a new setup that will. It's something like a cross between a Gold Hog Viper and a Gold Cube and will have a 4000GPH pump. Half inch grizzly on the header box to eliminate classifying. Not shown in the rendering is the tailing slide off of the header box to keep the junk from falling into the tank.



There are a lot of construction details I didn't include in the renderings like hinges and supports but I am including them in the CAD drawings I'm doing.

EDIT: When finished and tested out I'll post CAD drawings and a parts list including sources if anyone is interested.
