I like diggers but the stupid stuff they say just erks me. And the stories they make up with each find is stupid. But the show seems to be getting fake, like the story the guy told them about Elvis and his red wagon, then they found a wagon wheel and said it could be his, that was just stupid.

I like Diggers, I even like their goofy lingo and over enthusiasm. Much better that than the Boom Baby alternative or the Swamp Voodo hunters and their liberal use of high explosives. Every time I hear sweet nectar and roundness in the hole, I wink at my wife!LOL. She gets mad and gives me that look.

In regards to the ELVIS wagon wheel, my Mother in Law's Grandparents lived next door to the house they were detecting at. She lived there as welll in the summer time and played wih Elvis and the other kids on the street. When she saw the show, she said they used to make mud pies and throw them at each other in that very spot. But she also said that the reason they played with mud pies was cause none could afford real toys. She never recalled a red wagon or Elvis having the money to buy a guitar at that age. She is sharp as a tack @ 75 years old. I would believe her over the show.

Even so, they found a wagon wheel in Elvis's front yard.......LMAO. And they acted like it was the Holy Grail. Good clean goofiness. I like it.

I enjoy the show...at least they know how to dig without a backhoe and they don't have "Dog the bounty hunter's look alike wife" tagging along!

The Savage program is getting more enjoyable/laughable with every episode. In the last where they were digging at an old mansion, Ricks coil was set with the front end skyward instead of parallel to the ground, and then he was pendulum swinging it so that there must have been 6-8 inches clearance at the end of each swing. Clearly he is a master hunter with that technique.

I watch the shows for entertainment. Its a tv show and you should expect it to be scripted. Could you imagine getting many viewers if they showed how it really is metal detecting?? The pilot show would of been it! No one wants to see that...its boring. They also wouldnt be able to sell as many detectors. Just my opinion.

I would watch a weekly show on metal detecting, they could follow different metal dectorists around the world and give tips and tricks that could help a lot of people. How many new people are on here asking which detector to buy? Which is the best? What pinpointer to buy? Which one is best? I would watch it every week.

I would watch a show like that too but they would get nowhere near the viewers they have now which equals less money. You can bet those shows are only on as long as dollars are being made.

I can't stand the enthusiasm. Too much overbaked, scripted BS acting. And someone should tell people!!--It's NOT that easy! It's a lie. No one but THEM has access to target rich grounds like those and it's all for camera.

Ric Savage posted on twitter today, a link to an article on how different soils affect metals in the ground, and you can judge the differnt soils by the different vegetation growing out of the dirt. What the f--k does that have to do with metal detecting? as if we already know what we're gonna find, and we're gonna skip a dig, because we can predict the the extent of corrosion on the metal? So if you have read all my posts in this topic-thread, Im inclined to agree with all the rick savage haters; the guy's show is a fraud!!!! Wish it wasnt so!!!! say it aint so, rick!!!! oh hell, he could say it aint so, but why the f--k should we believe him.

All those metal detecting shows are a crap......... I have not watched any of them for about 3 months now...... I just can not take the bull crap they put out....... I don't watch Savage... I don't watch diggers .... and i don't watch swamp hunters.......................... And i do not watch any realty shows now about any thing............ There is nothing real about them..........

The audio response of those garretts is "dubbed in" you can tell. The show loses any credibility whatsoever simply because of this.

To say the show (Diggers) reflects poorly on the hobby is like saying Scrubs makes all ER people look bad. The MDs are a tool they use, but to me the show is more about the "historical" significance of crap they find in the ground. I somewhat like the show, but not because of the detecting. I've never seen them discuss anything technical about detecting, including technique. Then again I've only watched a few episodes, so I could be completely wrong. Either way I don't feel too threatened by it.

If you go to the Nat Geo website you will see the "Diggers" show has an archeologist with them and the stuff they dig is given to the place they are digging. Are they goofy, yes. We know archeologist hate us, so in some ways this show may alleviate some of that. The Diggers show found the original homesite of the Hatfields and called in a team of professional archeologist and they were credited with this find. Also think about it who would watch the 8 or more hours of us swinging the detector, they would only wish to see us digging the find. The shows are edited for entertainment.

Remember, these are TV shows and you do not have watch them. The last time I checked there is still a power off button. I was always taught if you have nothing nice to say, then keep the old trap shut.

No, SCRUBS was a fictional comedy that took place in a hospital. It was marketed and advertised as a fictional comedy. If Diggers were advertised as such, it would be hilarious to watch and wouldn't send the message that everyone who metal detects acts like a three year old.

Ole Ric honked me off big time when they "found" a reproduction CSA belt plate with something along the lines of 'sorry sucker we got here first' cut into the back. He went into a rant how it was planted by someone md'ing illegally. Yes, that's possible, but it could have been planted by a legal searcher as a message to a future illegal or legal hunter. OR it could have been planted by the producers.
