I was at 99 silver coins (lifetime tally...) going into this weekend. Thought it would be cool to find #100 at the same park woods where it all began 3 years ago when I found my first silver. It took 3 hours, but I finally got a 23/24 signal (which is normally a wheat) popped the plug.

Yeah, #100 ended up being a pretty nice Barber. Here is #1 and #100.

The most intriguing find was over in the area where I’ve found a bunch of 1800’s coins.

Swept the hole and another 21/21 signal.

Is this a black powder flask?
Here are the coins and tokens from today.

A lot of nice keepers for sure. Well done and congrats

Thx Steve! Yeah that 1891 dime doomed me into this obsession. I’ll never forget wiping the dirt away and seeing the design for the first time and imagining the last person to hold that coin. Oh well, every addiction has to start somewhere.... it’s been a blast so far. How old do you think the flask is? Any way to date with the simple design? That part of the park probably had occupation as early as late 1700’s early 1800’s.
Well Thad your addiction, in my opinion, is incurable. You will just have to learn to make the best of it...lol.
As far as the power flask, they are kinda hard to date, but I would think it's from the black powder percussion period. Roughly 1830s to 1870s. I think yours is at the early part of that period since it resembles the pattern on whiskey flasks from the 1830s/40s.

100 is a pretty big number...100 silvers is down right magical. Congratulations on a great milestone. I love that you were able to hit that number at the park where it all began. Hope your next 100 comes even faster.

excellent finds! Congrats on the #100 mark! Very cool powder flask!

A very good hunt you had there.I have found the very same Red Rider token and mine was punched ,and i don't know the reason for that punch.

It all makes sense to me now! Always wondered where your drive came from to hike endless miles and rip through jaggers while braving ticks after hours of map research.....

First silver a seated! Yeah....that will do it! Haha. Nice finds. Congrats.

Killer hunt, congrats! :occasion14:

I’m imagining a little boy playing cowboys and indians with the good luck token as his badge of honor. The hole in my example is pretty crude, I bet the kid did it himself.

Ok, how many silver coins did it take you to finally dig your first Seated Dime last week? 500 + ? I should have stopped with my first silver.... Thx John!

300 and something?? Lol. The unexpected drives us!

I probably had 30 Spanish silvers before I dug my first seated.

Congrats on hitting the century mark! Great group of finds, well done:icon_thumright:
