Found along a very low river in ct... here is the front and back of it not sure age or style so any info would be appreciated

It often comes out the ground unaffected & looks a little like silver.

Sorry your wrong thats not how tombac reacts to those conditions. Found thousands of tombac items looking like yours.(not to say 100% it is, just your experience is wrong with tombac)

there is a very quick way you can test if it is silver. Get some tin foil rub it shinny side down with a bit of spit & if the black comes off & you smell rotten eggs it silver, if not its something else.
