small cache...

I got in late tonight I didnt have a chance to count it up but theres a few hundred coins in that bag.It was a lot of digging and frankly I was getting tired probing for them pennies!I was hoping I would of found some loonies and twoonies,but didnt happen that way! All was dug in a tiny space of about 12 inchs x 24 inchs.All modern coins,the newest is 2000.

I wonder what happened for all those coins to wind up in a little space like that. You would think if someone purposely buried them, they would have put them in a container. Maybe they wanted to drive some metal detectorist nuts. Nice post HH

there was some construction in that area in the last 2 years.There were remnants of a vinyl zipper type bags there that was tore to pieces.It may have been buried in one spot but moved with a back hoe,there isnt enough vinyl pieces there left to make up a large bag.I believe that 2/3 of the bag is in another area.I will go back and try to find it at another time.Maybe it was the proceeds of a crime,that can be a possibility.I can only imagine the thrill if this was all LC or old silver!This is my 2nd cache that Ive dug.

Remnants of a crime.. a hiest! A STICK UP! a Buglery perhaps? That might very well be the case, and perhaps the crooks only took the paper money out of the loot and tossed the bag with whatever coins were in it aside. And there they sat, and the bag rotted away.. then it got moved by the back-hoe(s).. then you stumbled upon them with your metal detector! Voila! Another bunch of coins RESCUED by a metal detector(ist). Kudos to you my friend!
