Found this tonight and I think I can make out 1808. Not really sure what type of coin it is and I can not find anything that small from the early 1800s.

Very cool coin, anything from the early 1800's is very cool. Any ideas what country it's from?

I just found an Austrian 2 Heller coin from 1897 and it matches our penny exactly in size

Looks like it's likely the back of a button and the top word is TREBLE.

I am thinking CW period store token . There are a lot of them out there . Many were the same diameter as an Indian head but slimmer and a lower grade of craftmanship than a federal issue . Is it possible that the date is to corroded to verify it as an 1808 date . Or are you adament that it is an 1808 ? MaineRelic

It might help to use a micrometer to get the exact diameter and use that as a clue. I recently found a toasted coin with only two visible letters (no visible date), but I used the exact diameter (22.5mm) and it matched to an Argentinian coin from the 1820's (which matched the two visible letters).

You could be right, when I first found it I thought it said 1868. Thanks for all of the help.

A lot of the CW Store Tokens were 1863, so I think it is quite possibly a CW Store Token with a date of 1863. I looked at your photo in negative view and fairly certain it is a date and fairly certain the last digit is a 3 not an 8.

I too think it's an old CW and probably says 1868 or something around that time frame. It could have like an Indian head on the obverse and some words on the other side indicating it is a token...cool find though!
