🔎 UNIDENTIFIED Small Painting For ID Help

It is signed with some writing on the back that I cannot make out. On the signature the first letter has several horizontal lines which I've never seen before.
Any and all help, opinions appreciated. Thanks in advance to all ....

It’s nicely done, but I don’t recognise the signature. Maybe this colour reversal will help someone.

I could be wrong, but the prominent word on the back appears to be “Critique” in cursive writing. Usually, when you see this word on the back of a stretcher or backing board, it means that it’s the work of a student that has been appraised by a tutor, or the work of an apprentice appraised by the artist he’s learning from. It’s often accompanied by some hand-written notes from the critique session about composition, use of colours or technique with suggestions for improvement of the painting or future works. Sometimes written by the tutor and sometimes by the actual artist.

No, you are hardly ever wrong and your observation of the word Critique is bang on and some thing new that I learned today. The signature is just
