so youve lost your motivation to detect how do you get it back

Re: so you've lost your motivation to detect how do you get it back

I'm trying to understand this feeling you have Metal Mania but unfortunately I can't :laughing7:. It would take quite a bit for me to lose interest in enjoying this hobby. Anyways, the first thing I would do is to pull out any of your past finds ex: relics, clad collection, old coins, peculiar finds, etc. This will prove to you that you have had successful hunts in the past and can have and enjoy them again and again. Second, I would do some research or simply work on detecting a totally different area. Some fresh scenery can sometimes do wonders.

Along this line of thinking I do the same thing but never really thought about it.

I have a display case coffee table in my livingroom. I see my favorite finds everyday and at least once a week I pull something out to take a closer look or reminisce about a particular dig. Whenever people come over they gravitate to the table to see what I have added to the display. This keeps me always looking for the next find I feel is display case worthy.

I love this hobby but I also enjoy sharing my finds with others and telling them a bit of history they may not have know before.

Yea, that is like setting up the slide projector use to move them out fast!

Re: so you've lost your motivation to detect how do you get it back

watch "austin powers" to see how he gets his "mojo" back. :D

yes if your freinds aren't history wonks -- breaking out the finds and chatting "history 101" will generally clear the area of people fairly rapidly .

tip finds a gal that likes "brainy guys" and find yourself some "smart" freinds --even if their a bit geeky -- if one wants to be happy and one is into metal detecting

Mine comes and goes sometimes. But it's still in my blood and always will be. We get frustrated and spoiled sometimes when we can't find anything good. Then we get on here and see what others are finding. I guess either you have it or you don't. For me it's the love of being outdoors and the excitement of what you may dig next. It's my therapy as well :icon_sunny:
