Made it out for a couple of short hunts near the city this weekend.

The first site is still loaded with targets. Lots of old trash mixed in with some cool relics at this lost neighborhood along the tracks.

The spoons here go back as far as the late 1700’s with the large pewter spoon bowl through 1950’s plated spoons.

This section of woods is loaded with reeds.

The piece in the lower right is new to me, but definitely some kind of music reed, here’s another view.

I grabbed a couple glass surface finds.

I believe this is a license that would have been screwed to a horse carriage allowing the driver to bring passengers into the city.

Here is a handful of relics.

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1586119609.232070.jpg

I believe this is a watch winder “Boston Aug 1899”

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1586119661.869914.jpg

Some roundness including an 1827 Largie.

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1586119692.805853.jpg

The button in the center is a 2 piece Telegraph Messenger button, pic from web.

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1586119985.326363.jpg

I’m in the longest silver coin slump ever and the contents of this would have made my year.

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1586120048.168221.jpg

Other side of 1/2 cent bank token.

ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1586119775.161627.jpg

The holed tag/token has a “10” and “SPRING” stamped it. Also found a similar one online, not sure what this was for.

Good luck out there!

Looks like you had a productive weekend Thad. Your LC is much nicer than the one I found this weekend. The bank is cool. Is it intact. I believe the thing with Boston on it is from one of those badges or medals that had more pieces a hanging from it.

Thx! I really like the history behind the Telegraph Messenger button. A young Andrew Carnegie was a delivery boy for the telegraph, maybe it’s his button.......

That was one great hunt, congrats! :icon_thumleft:

Thx!

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Thx!

Thx! There are a couple of slopes in these woods that I have noted for future hunts. If I had the patience to rake or dig, I bet there is a ton of cool stuff under the 1900’s debris layer.

Thx Steve! The bank was a folded piece of aluminum I straightened out and thought the copy was interesting to share. My last couple LC’s were toast so happy to dig one with details.

Thx! I’ve found a few of these early 1900’s bank tokens in W PA. They made different varieties in different sizes and denominations. This one has better details than most. Our soil causes the aluminum to degrade normally.

Wow even though you are in a sliver slump you definitely found some great stuff! Congrats on it all!

Thx! I’m guessing the dirt gods are just messing with me.

That license is sick. I also really like the token. Nice work!

Thx man!

You really know how to bring home the best relics. Even tho the silver coins are hiding you're still doing very well.
