Nice finds. I am still looking for my first 1800s coin. So far I have only found modern coins. Guess I need to find another hunting ground. Its just so hard to give up the instant gratification of finding lots of coins even if they are new. At least it has given me the chance to get to know my detector better.

Thanks for sharing.

Awsome finds, where did you find them? Beach, park or property? Keep up the great detecting.

Hello All, thank you for your replies! I found these coins in an old gold mining town, my town! I don't get to go to the beach too often unless it's summertime. But I was thinking of maybe heading to a bay about 2 hours drive from here, where it's been productive each time I've gone. Most of the coins here were around the 3 to 6 inches deep. A few gave me a negative reading, hence the importance of knowing what to dig, by the tones and signals, with my type of detector. I've just finished compiling an album with all my coins, including a hoard of Chinese coins found a few months back. The oldest dates back to 1667.
