I have only had my machine maybe a year now, and took it to the lake last week. All of a sudden the speaker started sounding weird.

I rinsed it off and let it dry out for a few days. Now it sounds like a air horn going off and is probably 3 times louder than its ever been!

Works just fine with headphones, but without it, its not even usable.

Has anyone heard of this before? I just got my ATP back from Garrett yesteday, so im thinking of sending this off to KellyCo or whoever fixes these.

Also, my dumb ass was using it one day in the rain and went to wipe the screen , only to scratch the hell out of it. Im hoping they can swap it out with a new one and it doesnt cost me an arm and a leg

would that be the right place to send it?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry to hear that.

Send it to Kellyco - they are authorized to repair Minelabs, their service costs are reasonable, and they are a known entity. Give them a call and ask for Marty in repair/service.

You won't be either surprised or displeased.

Keep the faith.

Sounds like speaker leak, simple and quick fix and your under warranty...send it to repair...

To be honest I only use headphones never checked mine.

I use the speaker in the summertime because my headphones fill up with sweat and I have to drain them every 15 mins haha.

Im gonna send it in. Im hoping they can replace my screen cover too because of the scratches

I do:laughing7:...In some cases"

I searched Google and found the following procedures for a "dead speaker" - who knows, maybe it will also reset your speaker?

1. Hit the Main Menu button and scroll over to settings....make sure "wireless on" is turned off.

2. Also, hold down the volume button, scroll down to the volume control and make sure the sound is turned up. Also, make sure the volume limit is turned up.

3. Plug in a pair of headphones and unplug just to make sure a contact isn't stuck or something.
